If the sights are dove tailed (as were mine), that would be an easy fix.Generally speaking, most of us on the forum here want pure lead. Hornady's plain round balls are pure lead, generally speaking, although they do make .485 "hardballs" put up in blister packs with a little plastic sabot or cup for each ball. Swiss 3f is a spunky powder! That charge with a .490 ball out of an old Renegade chrono'd 1750 fps. The Pennsylvania Hunter has 6 more inches of barrel, so I expect it'll be a wee bit faster. All of them are from the late 70's to the mid 80's. The 10 gauge has very good triggers so does the Navy Arms Pietta. The Pedersoli 12 gauge not so good.69 Cal. Get the dremel out and enlarge the pan in the area near the flash hole. Make it more uniform front to back using the flash hole location as a guide. In the process, you can grind out the notch as well. It was obviously placed there due to the flash hole being out of alignment with the center of the pan.Location. People's Republic of Maryland. Bore size, rare of twist, patching material for round ball, powder type, lube for your bullet/patches. all of these things will affect accuracy and the type of powder you use and the best charge to use.Sep 19, 2023. #7. Load is a good "mid range" one. Data- RCBS Hogdon, 45g 3f Scheutzen, Scheutzen caps, beeswax/lard lube. Note- this is NOT a group shot from a bench with a load tuned for maximum accuracy, this was 10 shots, rapid fire, offhand ...Then make a cutter along the design of a couple of saw teeth that fit the groove. This can cut the groove deeper and is advanced to the next groove. Then a paper shim is placed under the cutter and the process is repeated till the grooves are deepened to your goal. A slow and labor intensive job but rather simple.As far as stripping, most of the old bluing was badly worn and almost off. I used progressive papers, 400, 600, 1,000 and 1,500 grit. Degreased with Dawn dish soap and water, rinsed, dried and further degreased with acetone. Applied Van's gun bluing (cold bluing) bought direct from their website.1.
